Warden Message

Culling Stray Dogs in Pristina Area

March 26, 2009

This warden message is to inform U.S. citizens that Pristina municipality will begin culling stray dogs, using firearms, in Pristina and its environs beginning on Friday night, 27 March at midnight through 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning, 28 March. This could be a safety hazard you should be aware of. A publicly owned enterprise will be responsible for the culling of the dogs, the disinfection of the site and the transport and burial of the animals under the supervision of the municipal rural development unit.

American citizens are therefore urged to exercise caution and avoid walking or driving the streets of Pristina during the time of the operation due to the danger of stray gunfire. American citizens should stay current with media coverage of local events and be aware of their surroundings at all times.

Lipjan municipality also announced it will cull stray dogs, after receiving numerous complaints about the problem. However, no dates  nor other information has been provided.

In the event further information is obtained regarding the culling operation in Pristina, Lipjan or other locations in Kosovo, U.S. Embassy Pristina will provide updates via this same channel and on the Embassy’s website.
