Embassy Statement on USAID Activities in Northern Kosovo

USAID has worked in all regions of Kosovo for the past 11 years.  USAID has significantly increased its assistance to the north over the past year.  We are here to help businesses, create jobs, and improve the lives of people in the north.

Our work includes river protection, road repair, school rehabilitation, and construction of playgrounds for children and sports field for youth.  These small projects respond to community requests and needs, creating much needed jobs.   Our assistance is helping businesses grow and increase production so that they can create even more jobs.  All these projects are aimed to improve the lives of people throughout the north. 

Today, unfortunately, people who claim to have the interests of the population at heart prevented residents of northern Kosovo from taking advantage of this opportunity to win contracts, generate employment and allow small businesses to grow. 

USAID and the US Government remain committed and will continue to offer assistance from the American people to all the people of Kosovo.
