Non-Immigrant Visas

NIV RE-APPLICATION

Important Information

Applicants who have been refused a nonimmigrant visa in Macedonia under section 214(b) of the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) generally must wait one year prior to submitting another application for a nonimmigrant visa (NIV).  You may not re-apply for an NIV for one calendar year from the date of your visa refusal without prior written approval from the consular section in Skopje.  Without such approval, you will not be permitted to schedule an NIV appointment or submit your visa application to a consular officer during the one-year period following your visa refusal.

Applicants who wish to request consular section approval to re-apply within the one-year period may do so by sending a written request via email to the consular section with a brief description of your purpose of travel and reason that you believe you should be permitted to submit another visa application within the one-year period.  You should be aware that requests to re-apply are only approved in rare cases involving significant and substantive changes in your social, family, and economic situation.

Submission of a written request for another appointment within the one-year period will not result in overturning the refusal in your case.  Those whose requests for another appointment are approved will be informed as to when they should present their new visa application (and MRV fee) to a consular officer; the officer will then review your eligibility to obtain a U.S. visa.

Requests to schedule an appointment within the one-year period should be submitted by e-mail to:  consularskopje@state.gov.
