Non-immigrant Visas
Expedited Visa Appointments
US Embassy Skopje can consider expedited visa appointment requests only in cases of emergency. Please note that we are not able to accommodate every request for an expedited appointment. Emergency appointments will only be approved for applicants who have already scheduled a regular visa appointment but need an earlier appointment due to special circumstances. You must satisfy one or more of the criteria listed below to be considered for an emergency appointment.
• You are a student or exchange visitor who is within 90 days of the start date of your program and who was not denied a visa within the last six months, and an appointment is not available to accommodate your “report by” date;
• You are a temporary worker (H & L visas only) whose visa has expired, and you want to renew your visa and return to your employment in the United States;
• You need to attend to an urgent business matter where the need to travel to the United States could not be predicted in advance;
• You need to obtain emergency medical care or accompany a relative for emergency medical care;
• You need to attend the funeral of an immediate family member (mother, father, brother, sister, child, grandparent or grandchild);
• You need to make an appearance in a U.S. court.
If you fall into one of the above categories, please send an e-mail to: consularskopje@state.gov. Please include evidence of the emergency circumstances. Depending on the emergency, this may include medical reports from the physician, a copy of the family member’s death certificate, or orders from the U.S. court. Please be sure to include the applicant’s contact information (name, e-mail, address, and phone).
What you need to consider
If you believe you qualify for an emergency appointment, please read the following points very carefully before you try to obtain an emergency appointment:
• If we decide to grant your request, we will notify the call center, which will then contact you at the number you provided for scheduling your appointment.
• You must ensure that you have documentary evidence to prove that you satisfy one or more of the criteria for an emergency appointment. (See above.)
• If you obtain an emergency appointment you are treated as a normal visa applicant; you must qualify for a U.S. visa in every respect;
• The Visa Application Fee is nonrefundable;
• If the consular officer finds you misrepresented your reason for travel to the United States, including the need for an emergency appointment, a record of the misrepresentation will go into your case file.
