DCM Michael Murphy Remarks for Renovation of Hospital Clinics

June 1, 2012

First, let me start by saying it is a real honor to be here with the Minister, the Directors of the clinics, and I have had a chance to meet the staff.  And it is a particular privilege to be able to, on behalf of the American people and the United States Government, to announce that we are going to invest 1.2 million dollars in the renovation of two clinics here, the infectious disease clinic and the surgical clinic.

I think what the donation and the work we are doing here today, the Pentagon, the State Department and others in the U.S. Government illustrates the partnership between the United States and the Republic of Kosovo, and the American people and the people of Kosovo is multifaceted.
We cooperate on a range of issues, diplomatic, developmental , and of course, today on a healthcare issue.

And we look forward, in several months time, to be able to cut the ribbon on a refurnished facility so that the people of Kosovo have an improved and better location to receive the kind of care that the Minister and the doctors and nurses here wish to provide.
