Educational and Exchange Programs
 

The U.S. Government & the U.S. Embassy in Pristina sponsors various exchange program opportunities for Kosovo citizens, including high school students, university students, academics and professionals. These include:

YOUTH EXCHANGES:

The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES)
This program provides full scholarships for Kosovo secondary school students to spend one academic year in the United States. Students live with U.S. host families and attend American high schools. The YES program is administered in partnership with the U.S. Department of State by a consortium of non-profit organizations led by American Councils for International Education. In Kosovo, American Councils manages the YES program in partnership with the U.S. Embassy Pristina. The application season for the 2017-2018 school year will open in September 2016. Testing dates will be announced in late August 2016.

Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Summer Institute, Youth Program
This program offers opportunities for students from Kosovo, 16-18 years old, to attend a four-week summer institute in the United States. During the program, students have a chance to interact with over 45 other students from over 30 countries in Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Eurasia and the U.S. They explore American culture and politics and will learn about the opportunities and challenges of civil society. STUDENT EXCHANGES:

Fulbright Foreign Student Program in the United States for Kosovo Citizens
This program brings Kosovo citizens to the United States for postgraduate (master) degree programs at U.S. universities. Students apply for Fulbright Fellowships through the U.S. Embassy in Pristina. The application season for academic programs beginning in Fall 2017 is now closed.

The Kosovo Undergraduate Exchange Program (Kosovo UGRAD)
This program provides one-semester scholarships to promising undergraduate students from Kosovo for a non-degree, full-time study in a U.S. university or community college. In addition to course work, students perform community service projects, professional development workshops, and cultural enrichment activities. Students are selected through an open, merit-based competition. For more information please visit: http://www.worldlearning.org 
The application season for the Fall 2017 program will open in November 2016.

PROFESSIONAL EXCHANGES:

Fulbright Scholar Program in the United States for Kosovo Citizens
This program enables citizens of Kosovo to study, conduct research and pursue their academic and professional interests at leading universities and other educational institutions in the U.S. The awards (3 – 6 months) are granted through an open competition, and selected candidates will be required to appear for an interview by a committee. The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program
This program brings accomplished mid-level professionals from Kosovo to the United States for up to one year of combined academic (NON-DEGREE) and professional work. Fellows are selected based on their potential for leadership and commitment to public service. By providing future leaders and policy makers with experience in U. S. academic and professional fields, the program provides a basis for lasting, productive ties between Americans and their professional counterparts overseas.
