Call for Proposals for Restoring Cultural Heritage
The U.S. Embassy Pristina is pleased to announce the Cultural Heritage Preservation Fund call for proposals for restoring Kosovo’s cultural heritage sites located in three cities: Prizren, Velika Hoča/ Hoqa e Madhe, and Rahovec/Orahovac. The deadline for submissions is 5:00pm, May 6, 2013.
The Cultural Heritage Preservation Fund totals $1,500,000 and will consider funding up to $200,000 for individual projects. The Fund is aimed at preserving cultural sites or objects that have historical or cultural significance to the cultural heritage of Kosovo. In particular, these funds are to preserve sites located in the historic centers of Prizren, Velika Hoča/Hoqa e Madhe and Rahovec/Orahovac.
This funding opportunity is open to private institutions, governmental and non-governmental organizations with experience in the preservation of cultural heritage and with strong knowledge of Kosovo’s history and culture and the importance of the proposed site. Qualified applicants must demonstrate that they have the requisite experience and capacity to manage projects to preserve cultural heritage. Priority will be given to projects that engage the local community; contain well thought out plans to protect and preserve important cultural sites; initiate plans for ongoing maintenance; include cost-sharing aspects; obtain permission from appropriate authorities and include educational components.
A committee comprised of U.S. Embassy officials will vet proposals and applicants for eligibility, suitability, and reputable performance in cultural preservation or similar activities.
