Charge d’Affaires Michael Murphy’s remarks at Women and Children’s Shelter
June 15, 2012
It’s a real pleasure to be here today to inaugurate and celebrate a public-private partnership, between the KSF and this institution, but also to celebrate the partnership between the United States and Kosovo. The KSF, working with the local organization, identified the need here for some renovation work for this facility that supports women and orphan children and we were able to partner with the KSF by providing them some resources to accomplish that objective and they provided the manpower. And I think this really demonstrates three important things:
First, the partnership between the United States and Kosovo;
Second, the further development of the KSF into a modern security force. Humanitarian operations are part of what a security force does. Our Defense Department does them all the time;
And third, and most importantly a commitment by the KSF and by ourselves, the United States, to help the people who are the most vulnerable in Kosovo society, the people who need assistance, like the people who make use of this facility, this shelter.
